Crashed C46 Curtiss Airplane Found

Beirut, 17 April, 2006

Walid Noshie and Sverker Hallstrom have discovered the whereabouts of the C46 Curtiss LIA Airplane that crashed and reported missing on October 3, 1957 after taking off from the International Lebanese airport.

The search took 5 years. The C 46 was found on the sea bed at a depth of 1400 Meters.

27 people died on board. It was reported that the aircraft was transporting 15 cases of gold weighing between 230 and 440 Kg.

Salvage will be immediately underway and will be under the supervision of the Lebanese ministry of Transport.

This is a very complex operation due to the depth where the plane was found. The team has procured all the necessary equipment to guarantee the success and efficiency of this operation.

During the search for the airplane wreck, a Roman Ship was discovered at a depth of 300 Meters.
Noshie and Hallstrom may conduct and execute the salvage of the roman wreck. The date will be declared by the ministry of transport once the salvage of the airplane wreck is concluded.
