At least 6 million tones of debris enters the world’s oceans each year, causing harm to underwater environments and wildlife. With unique access to the underwater world, scuba divers can help remove debris underwater, raise awareness and drive positive change.

The HSBC and the National Institute for Scuba Diving in Lebanon (NISD) have been organizing the Underwater yearly Cleanup day for the past 7 years, on the last Sunday of the month of September.

Again this year, HSBC and NISD have the pleasure to invite all divers in Lebanon to come to NISD's dive center at Solidere Beirut Marina and dive all day, free of charge, taking action in cleaning up all the known underwater dive sites.

The club's 4 boats will be all day in and out of the Marina taking divers to sites, cleaning underwater from garbage dumped into the sea by people on the Corniche or coming from coastal dump sites such as the infamous Saida garbage dump site.

Action will start at 9 AM and continue the cleanup until 5 PM.

Sukleen will help all day with their cleaning land team, and will send their trucks to remove the collected garbage at the end of the day.

Over 100 Lebanese divers participate in this cleanup dive day each year, and we expect to have over 200 participants this year.

The event will take place on Sunday, September the 27th at the Solidere Beirut marina, NISD Dive center.
